E.F.E. Heater Gaskets

The E.F.E., or Early Fuel Evaporator or Electronic Fuel Evaporator, is located between the throttle body of the carburetor and the intake manifold. This gasket contains a resistance grid that heats the air/fuel mixture. This aids with vaporization of fuel in cold conditions and reduces exhaust emissions by running a few minutes to allow for leaner choke calibration. This gasket is also sometimes referred to as a Carburetor Heat Insulator.

Symptoms of a failing E.F.E. Heater Gasket may include:
• Poor drivability
• Poor fuel economy
• Possible failure to turn off after reaching operating temperature.

Automotive professionals recommend replacing when the gasket becomes non-functional.
